I sure don't mind if you feel inspired to create something similar to what you saw on my site, just keep in mind always give credit where its due. THANKS!
Start off with the black & white striped pp. I placed my lines horizontally.
Next cut the Tillie Snowflake Core'dinations Cardstock (large white dotted cardstock) down to a 9x10. Mat it in black cardstock.
Use your E-Z Runner to adhere it to the background. Don't be stingy! The Luxe paper has a bit of a foil quality to it, so you want it to adhere well!
Adhere it to the background paper.Pretty much centered.
Then die cut the numbers out of Glitter Silk.
Then to create a long 12" border you will need to die cut the same die on the same side since it is only around 6" long. Do this for both strips.
I placed the second pink border strip down approx 4"away from the one on the left.
Cut a 4x12 piece of the black 7 white chevron and place down the center of the pink borders.
Now mat the photos in the teal cardstock. I used the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares to make the photos pop.
I also put them on the flowers.
I don't have a clear shot of how I adhered my flourished with the Adhesive Sheets. Sorry, but with things small and intricate like that, I always use that AWESOME product. My absolute favourite adhesive ever!
I am coming to teach at the end of this month!!!!! I will be at Brandon & Winnipeg.
(check with stores for all pricing)
Starting off in Brandon at Scrapbooking at Shelley's.
Thursday, May 30th 7-9pm.

I have to say I was completely flabbergasted when Tammy asked me to join. Right now I am feeling the pressure a bit. Have you seen how AMAZING the team is? OH MY WORD!!!!!!!!!
Make sure you take a sec to check out their dies, they are simply AWESOME!!!!! click here to see them.
Coming off a fantastic 5 weeks of teaching, and only being home for 2.5 days in that was a little hard. I always love spending every minute with the family. Now I have a nice break till the end of the month to catch up life, and start creating for Sizzix! and another fun thing to share on Friday...
Life is going pretty darn good for me right now, which is cool. I've been asked to stay on with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L & Core'dinations again. I don't think I will ever be able to say goodbye to these 2 when the time comes. I've moved into a "Special Projects" position with Core, which I am pretty stoked about. The teaching, demoing and CHA boothwork projects really are my thing. And I joined one more team "officially". You will see on Friday. They are a staple for me in all my teaching an personal projects. I'm sure some of you will be able to figure it out.
So I was trying to think of something out of my box for my first Sizzix tutorial. I wanted to do colours I don't usually pair together frequently, as well as maybe a different way to use the dies. So here's what I did.
This is one of the few pictures I have with my gramma. She really just doesn't pose much for photos. So I wanted to capture her feminine side. Which is the reason why I made the overall look of the layout pastel. Then by creating the flowers out of the same colours, only more intense in their values, the flowers really POP!
Start cutting lot's of flowers and leaves in the 3 different cardstock colours. This is one of my favourite dies! click here to see the die.
Then DO NOT throw out the leftovers. Your papers will look like these below.
Instead cut around them leaving approx. 1/4".
Then once everything is cut out, nest them into each other. This is where the fun comes in. Mix and match colours. and then when you adhere them down, DON'T glue them completely down, leave some free edge unglued, so you can manipulate the petals to make it pop and stand out even more.
you can even mix and match with the tags too!
See how that really makes the images look different? give it a try! You will LOVE the result!
Can't wait to come up with our fun ways to use my Sizzix dies. See you next time!
I recently was asked to be a part of a cool gig this past week. It was to create signage for the chain store JoAnn's that would be in every store. That is AWESOME!
I was given a few guidelines:
Everything had to be Core'dinations, NO patterned paper, simple, minimal embellishments, no sanding, no distressing,no inking, nothing "extra".
Was it possible? The last few years I wasn't really true to my style, I conformed to meet the needs of the assignments or product given. Because not one, NONE, zilch of my fave, fave fave layouts were ever published I realized that I had to change my style to be liked by others if I wanted to be published. So now lately I've been trying to re-evaluate what is my style???? Do I know it at all? Or do I need to figure out what kind of style I want.I had only submitted 1 project for publication since March, and I had even forgotten about it till today. I guess Spellbinder's had mentioned to my Editor today how much they liked my card. So I simply will wait on pins & needles to see it in print. It felt great to have that little skip in my stomach again. Reminded me of about 7 years ago when I was a part of a Baby Book.
The timing of this assignment was actually soooo appropriate because I have been changing my life for the better. Improve improve improve. To create something with the very basic of tools took me back to the beginning of my scrapbooking. Where there wasn't an abundance of product, embellishments, paper, etc. So I was excited to accept the challenge, but then immediately nervous to see if I actually could create something I'd be happy with.
As it turned out, I enjoyed myself immensely. It was Freeing. I created a handful of samples and THREE were picked up!!!!!! I was elated. I was hoping for one. So once I see the signage I will share with you.
Here were my entries:
I actually think I will toss a challenge out there. DO you think you can figure out which 3 were picked up? I will send out some Fabulous Adhesive prizes. Maybe even Core, if I can find a full pack that I haven't touched!(my fave thing about this assignment was I could use photos I love, they didn't have to be new & unseen. SUHWEET! )

This month is the big kick off to our first ever Crop & Create!
It is taking place in Saskatoon.
I am going to talk about Crop & Create on today's post, and even if you aren't attending please stay tuned. On the Crop & Create Facebook page we are hosting a couple challenges EVERY single week of September. These contests are open to EVERYONE. Not just those attending, everyone you know. So let's get started on how it works.
Every Monday, we will announce a card sketch & a layout sketch on our CROP & CREATE facebook page and we will also announce the winners . We also may toss in other challenges in there. So you will have to stay tuned. We were given SOOOOO many prizes to give away and we want to spread the love from our super awesome Manufacturers that we think just rock!
The Card challenges are being hosted by Kimber Mc Gray. Kimber will be joining us in Saskatoon for the first Crop & Create. She is the author of 3 Bestsellers and soon to be one more... The first card challenge she posted today is:
Here is the first layout challenge. These layouts are brought to you by Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine; created by Becky Fleck-author of Page Maps 1 & 2.
This is MY take on this sketch. I ADORE this sketch so it is definitely going in my fave collection. Can be interpreted soooo many ways!
Also for this first week you have another way to win. Simply send your friends to our facebook page and "like" us and make sure they say "----" sent me. You will also win a huge prize. This month we have sooooo many prizes, lot's to go around. So enter as many times as you would like. We are so blessed that our manufacturers think this event is such a great idea that they have rewally spoiled us, and anyone who might be interested in attending one day.
Keep in mind, if you are from Saskatoon or area, we do have space available to still attend. The hotel has been super accomodating to us too. We sold out of a few classes so fast that we asked for more room, did a little shuffling and by acquiring a larger room we were able to open up our attendance to hold more people. So it's not too late to join us.
Crop & Create is the first of a classy, creative event that will offer you many ways to have fun, and take classes. We pride ourselves that we have brought some of the best educators in our industry in. These ladies have travelled all over the world educating, and/ or have become authors. They will be on site to sign your books if you would like and they are looking forward to having fun with all of you! Our swag bag is something that is exclusive to us, not a loot bag that is a mismatch of older product thrown together in a bag given to you. This SWAG BAG has been prepared by Becky Fleck who has customized each and every bag so that you walk away with a fantastic surprise. It is the first of its kind in this industry to receive as a swag bag. The manufacturers LOVED our concept and jumped on the chance to sponsor it. We can't wait to see what you think of it.
We are having a meet & greet, late night dessert bar, make n takes sponsored by major manufacturers and they are FREE to you!!!! Woohoo. We have a few contests that will take place. Some will be released next week so you can start preparing. We will send out all class supplies/tools needed for your classes next week.
We have started putting out sneak peaks of classes on the Scrapbook & Cards Website. Please join us!!!
Check back all this week for more updates on the crop! Make sure you hit our facebook page, it will definitely be worth your time.

"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die."-- John 11:25-26
I can't wait to spend this week scrapbooking my assignments, working on my soul restoration album, also I am just finishing up an online course that I have thoroughly enjoyed. And we are out at the lake, the sun is shining, the kids are outside picking shells with Jim. Perfect!
This layout I created last night and LOVE. Maybe because I just love Liz, and think the world of her.
Jody Hunt, owner of echo Park had asked me to do some design work for Echo Park and it was a Blast!!!! He took a few of my layouts for marketing and photography. Suhweet!
The following layouts he did not take, I don't have them to take photos of. sorry.
was a blast! as usual. I always have a great time every time I go. Maybe it's because the amount of people I know or have taught is a good percentage of the room. It's like Cheers for sure Barb, where everyone knows your name. So I had so much fun!!!!!!
I really enjoyed spending the time with Mike for American Crafts. I was honoured to have represented them this weekend. Fun.
For the retailer event, I taught a layout and provided samples for tags that you could've made. (I had some demand to make kits to sell for this layout, so I might do that. But enough supplies to create a 2pg, just a thought I am pondering)
Then for the 2 hr album class, Leslie had asked if I would create a cute album with the Mr. Campy line. No brainer since the event is called Camp Croppin. How fun. And about 90% completed the album. With another 30 min, I think we all would've been done and been able to decorate a little more. But to leave with a good base is awesome. And we had fun and giggles!
So here is the base I taught. Some pages I am going to show you how I stepped them up after the class. I encourage everyone who took the class to really make it your own. Get pictures that suit your book and decorate even more with all the extra embellishments I gave you in your kit!
Cover:
Now this is MY version of the album. I am going to fill it full of my good times I had this past weekend. I know I posed for a bzillion pics, so please please send them to me if you can. THANKS!!!! I can't wait to see the zoolander ones I did with Matt Lanoy from Bo Bunny. Let me tell you, don't leave your camera in site if Matthew and I are around. We were grabbing people's cameras and posing for crazy shots and pulling everyone we could into them. Jim thought we were NUTS! totally fun though.
I layered a wooden frame that I made by gutting the inside out. I made little rips along the inside edges and then rolled the paper back. I did ink some edges. A little funky. One of my favourite pages.
a few small touches with a concentric circle. One of my most FAVE ways to decorate a page.
here's another version of the last page:
here it is with photo mat placement.
some pages became pockets.
suped up.
a version without the accordion flower.
did a little more prep on this page.
Definitely had fun! And thanks for the amazing emails. Mike has forwarded me the ones that have been sent to his office as well. American Crafts is pretty pumped at how much you guys had fun. AWESOME!
I am overwhelmed by thoughts, thoughts on sadness for Maureen's family. Reflecting on other friend's I have lost over the years. Thoughts on how I have gotten so busy this last few years and haven't spent enough time nurturing friendships and things that really do mean lots to me, and then also devoting too much time where it did me no good.
I NEED and WANT to focus on my life and my priorities. I spent some great quality time with a dear friend Lynne Mizera this week before the event started. We shared what we learned through a course we both took. Her words to me were such timing. We had such similar experiences with people. WOW. I LOVED talking with her. I need a weekend with her for just us two. Thanks Lynne. I appreciate YOU.
So today, I said I was just going to scrapbook for me. I had fun judging the Scrapbook & Cards Today sketch challenge, AMAZING! I can't believe how many people came and told me how the handout they gave with their magazine is what they based their layouts on this weekend. A few ladies were on a roll and said they created every layout on the sheet. So I took one of those sheets home and I am going to do that myself. I am a HUGE HUGE Becky Fleck fan so I am going to look forward to this. Today I opened up SC&T Spring Issue and followed a sketch myself. It is one of the bonus sketches on the bottom of pg.45. I actually used just the r.h. page of a double layout, only because I only had 3 pictures. It only made sense to adapt the sketch to fit me. If you want to see the sketch I did, go here and check out this fabulous magazine online. You can get it in hard copy from your local scrapbook stores for free AND it is online for free as well. What a bonus. But here is my quick rendition. And you know the best part? I did it to capture the cute memory. Not for publication or assignments, not something I needed to recreate the wheel for. something just to savour Ireland eating cupcakes. And she LOVES it. That is ALL that matters.
How exciting, a blog post entirely focused on Core'dinations cardstock!!!! Love it. I decided I wanted to play along in this Core adventure so here are my fave layouts I have done with Core'dinations.
I LOVE layering the different textures and patterns and then sanding off some of the colour to reveal more depth.
I find that because the cardstock is such a strong pattern, you don't always need to embellish with too many things. The following page is predominantly cardstock focus.
I LOVED creating this layout for my niece. She is ADORABLE! The soft colours still shows show much contrast while still being delicate.
For this layout I had fun ripping and tearing to creating lot's of layers of the petals for the flower.
This layout was FUN Pairing with Graphic 45, I really enjoyed playing with this.
