When I think of my most favourite things to do in life, it always involves my family. I love nothing more than creating memories with them. We tend to do lot's of goofy things. We are all a bunch of comedians. We actually, almost embarrassed to say spend more time taking pictures of us being goofy than acting normal.
But that's us, and I wouldn't want to look back on cheesy perfect pics all the time. I like remembering these times.
Let's create this layout! First I break out my Sizzix Big Shot. Pretty much a staple in my scrapbooking. Now start cutting petals. When cutting the Sizzix Bigz Die - Petal Drop in the Big Shot all you need is a pair of Standard Cutting Pads. Make a sandwich with your die and paper between the cutting pads and roll them through your Sizzix Big Shot Machine.
Then I start arranging the petals all around the far left side of the page. It gives a huge flower look.
Next I cut 6 Sizzix Bigz Die - Hearts, 4-Up, then I layered them and made a centre out of hearts. I sewed these down so that they could allow their "petals" to flare up.
Then finished off the flower with a Kaisercraft paper flower, Prima flower and a Glitz Design giant Rhinestone.
I LOVE Halloween, that's no secret if you were to walk in our house, okay maybe back that up. "pull in front of our house" The month of October we put out our homemade gravestones around the yard, hang the ghosts, carve pumpkins, but also the entire inside of the house is decorated as well. The kids love it, our friends get a kick out of it, and the creative person inside of me LOVES it! I like constantly changing the decor.
And I am so excited to scrapbook these photos using Glitz Design's Raven. Can't you see it being a perfect match?
fun times!
So for me, we always do little treat bags for our friends and neighbours. This year I made some bags using the glitz Design line Raven. I am going to use these ones for the teachers.
I love the last week of the month! It's exciting to travel from blog to blog seeing everyone's projects!
I love this saying. So I wanted to make a bag for my oldest to take cookies in to share with his new classmates. It's a new school and he is having a hard time with it. This cute bag will remind him that kids will love who he is.
Guess what? It's the last THURSDAY of the month, which means Glitz Blog Hop!!!!!
I love seeing how everyone works with all the fun product out there! And seriously who doesn't LOVE prizes?????? Just leave a little love on each of the designers sites for a chance to win!
So I knew instantly when I opened my DT package and saw Dapper Dan in it, that Iwould do a layout about my grampa! I adored him, like not just a little, he was one of the most amazing men in my life.
Kind, gentle, good sense of humour, musical, forgiving, accepting, a huge moral compass, the list is one that would go on forever. In fact I probably only have met a handful of people that compares to how generous and loving he lived his life. So my title, it's a weird one, but I really mean it. It was better when he was alive, he helped you work through problems with a fresh eye and different perspective. So I am paying a brief tribute to this man. He died just before his 96 birthday. This year he would have been 101. :)) I don't have many pics of him so I CHERISH the ones I have.
In all reality I just had lot's of fun layering the patterned papers and playing with the word stickers.
(psst. If you love scrapbook sales, right now I am having one online too. I am packing it with approx $50-$70 worth of gently loved supplies(misc). Definitely lot's of bang for your buck. You just pay $25 plus shipping and my goodies will be yours! Facebook me or email if you are interested. [email protected]. I am doing a limited amount of boxes so let me know by the weekend.)
I love seeing what everyone creates. It is super cool. This week I started making tags to put in the kids lunches once school starts. I like having a few dozen ready so I can write little notes of awesomeness to my kiddos.
I used some of my scraps from the Color Me Happy line. They are so nice, bright and cheerful. One tip to keep in mind, is if you know you are going to write messages on the tags, don't overdo the creativeness, make sure you leave a nice bare spot so your note will be clear. I have been known to overdo the "creative" part sometimes.... hey everyone can get carried away. But since my kids are still little, I leave a little extra since I tend to write in a larger print so they have to try and read my messages themselves.
Still keeping true to my style, I still have layers, I add some glitter and tissue paper to make it pop! Finish it off with those big and darn cute Rhinestones. Seriously, I could not own enough of those!!!!!
Well hope you enjoy all the lovely projects! Remember leave us some love!Only one comment per person please :)
Oh and just a heads up. I am having 2 garage sales this month. This weekend (fri 1-7pm and Sat 9-5) at 118 Kucey Cres. Everything this weekend is non scrapbook related: sixe 6,7,8 boys clothes (shorts, swimtrunks, pants, sweaters, vest, jackets) girls size 4-5 (skirts, tshirts, fancy dresses, shoes) some fancy dance outfits for 4T girls, size 9 & 10 tap shoes. Adult shoes, purses, bags, adult & childrens books, toys, baking stuff, cupcake stands, lego, body boards, board games, puzzles, etc. lot's of stuff, nothing over $20, and in all reality most items are $2-$5.
Then next weekend I am going to have a scrapbook sale. But watch for the dates!!! I might do it at night versus the weekend, I don't know. I just decided to do it, so now to scramble to organize the stuff. On a mission to purge... wish me luck. I feel like I am drowning in stuff.
Father's Day is just around the corner, are you ready? All this week Glitz Designers are creating projects to celebrate those fabulous men in our lives. So make sure you check out the blog!
Today is my day to join in on the fun! This is one of my most favourite pictures of Jim ever! Love him!!! To see the entire layout you need to go to Glitz Design, but here are a few sneak peaks...
(******* slight change to plans, it will be up on glitz's website on Sunday*********)
all the products I used for the layout are from this AMAZING collection!
Since it is a rainy day, maybe you would like to check out some more fun blogs. Head on over to Sizzix, Catherine is showing a fun way to create flipits!
There is fabulous step by steps for this project!
Now head over to Core'dinations to see a few ideas for Father's Day cards! I personally ADORE the tie card. So cute!!!!!
Need more inspiration, head on over to Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine, they have a pretty cool thing going on over there with Close To My Heart using this fun stamp set!!
Thanks for joining me for a little rainy day fun! (actually it's more like It's raining , it's POURING here in Saskatchewan! But a great day to craft!
So a huge shout out to my mom!!! Love her!!!! Our life would not succeed, function, exist without her help! I simply adore my momma!
I did this layout I think 2 years ago using Glitz Design & Core'dinations Colorcore Cardstock. Still love it!
So why not create a bouquet out of paper flowers? Lot's of flower petal layers.
start out by getting out your Core'dinations Colorcore Cardstock and die cutting as many flower petals & leaves as you think you will need. I mix and matched colours. Remember, try to make as much dimension as possible, so use Cardstock like Core'dinations, so you can sand it, emboss it, ink it, or try their patterned cardstock. You will have more choices on what your flowers will look like.
Now start creating flowers. I like to ink where I am going to manipulate the petals. For this flower below, it is kind of any easy decision. this flower is called the 3D Fringed Flower from Sizzix.
(sorry this next picture I took at night, tried to brighten it, but not really successful) But you get the idea of what it should start looking like.
Now you need to create something to arrange your flowers on. I purchased a foam ball, but I don't want the white to show through, so I covered it with a green tulle.
Once the entire thing is covered it should look like this. (keep in mind, I didn't cover the bottom since it would be adhered into the pot.)
Not start pinning the flowers all over. I chose to use the Trinket Pins by Maya Road for the flower centres, that way it looked pretty AND I had a way to adhere them.
Here's the finished look again! Hope you enjoy and have a FANTASTIC Mother's Day!
I am coming to teach at the end of this month!!!!! I will be at Brandon & Winnipeg.
