CROP & CREATE IS ALMOST HERE!!!

 Before I get to today's LONG post, I must say, that I am in the groove of singing as loud as I can, music is cranked, 3rd qurter of income tax is ready to go to the accountant, 1 load of laundry left, I am having a FABULOUS Monday. Hope you are too!

I am really really getting excited! The very first Crop & Create event is going to be here just around the corner.  ALL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS EVENT CAN BE FOUND HERE.

                                 

I don't know about you, but I get sooo inspired when I take fabulous classes, meet new people, get a chance to see cool things. It makes me feel rejeuvenated and want to scrap more and get those memories documented!

I don't know how many times I've said it before, can you believe the talented teachers we have coming to SASKATOON?? i can guarantee this has never happened before to have this calibre of teachers in Saskatoon at one time!

It has been fun seeing where the teachers are making their flight connections to get here. We aren't quite the big city where all flights fly into. Kelly Goree is coming up from Kentucky, Kimber from Indiana and Becky from Montana and Catherine & Vicki coming from Ontario, let's just say a few connections are being made. lol

Kelly Goree

 (I still get shivers knowing that Kelly is coming to Saskatoon. Years upon years ago I fell in love with her style, and then the first time I met her I was in awe. She really is that adorable Southern girl who has an awesome sense of humour, fabulous smile and just has her act together!!!! I know I've told this story before, but the first time she left a comment on my blog I was tickled pink, thinking it was random. Then I got an email from her awhile later and well let's just say I archived that baby for awhile!!!  I still get excited when I see her in a magazine! Her style is iconic. I was pretty impressed that this celebrity remembered me. Now throughout the years, we've taught together and have become friends and I am so blessed! I can't wait to hear what you guys think of her classes!!!)

Becky Fleck

Now this OUTSTANDING artist has redefined our industry. I personally truly believe this. I have taken many a class from her, and I will admit to be the ultimate worst student in her class cause I am pitiful at measurements. I'm a free bird that wings it with finger ticks to mark my cuts. She is a graphic artist that provides you with the most accurate instructions I have ever seen for projects. Very precise and you leave with the most phenomenal results. So knowing that I am on the opposite spectrum as Becky for how we measure and cut, I walk away from her style with something different. Her talent to create sketches that you can easily adapt to your own projects is the best tool a scrapbooker can have. I feel that they really are the "bible" for our industry. Really, do you want to always be reinventing the wheel, a must to create something brand new never seen before on every project???? I don't. Canada's favourite scrapbooker. She is that instructor that everyone loves. Her style is timeless, beautiful. This month is the big kick off to our first ever Crop & Create!

 It is taking place in Saskatoon.

I am going to talk about Crop  & Create on today's post,and even if you aren't attending please stay tuned. On the Crop & Create Facebook page we are hosting a couple challenges EVERY single week of September. These contests are open to EVERYONE.  Not just those attending, everyone you know.  So let's get started on how it works.

 

Every Monday, we will announce a card sketch & a layout sketch on our CROP & CREATE facebook page and we will also announce the winners . We also may toss in other challenges in there. So a little bit more info on Crop & Create Saskatoon.

If you are a facebook follower, don't forget we've started our own page for chatting and sharing stories, infos. It's a great place to hook up with friends and discuss classes, teachers, hotel room sharing, etc.

 These crops across Canada are going to be classic. You are going to be able to scrapbook in clean, stylish hotels that set a nice ambiance of an ultimate "girl's getaway".  Saskatoon's event is going to be held at the Sheraton Cavalier which is right downtown on our river. IT is beautiful! The rooms are spacious and clean and for Crop & Create we have secured the ENTIRE main floor convention rooms. That is all 5 rooms. That's right, scrapbookers are going to take over the hotel. This means you will have ample room to scrapbook at tables with your friends. The classrooms hold 50 people, again lot's of room. We have also secured their HUGE foyer in front of the convention rooms, because we have non-stop exciting things that are going to be taking place in there. We have chocolate/dessert buffets at night where you will have a "Meet & Greet" with the teachers. They can't wait to get to know each and every one of you and take pictures if you like. Because 3 of our teachers are coming out with books, we are going to have an exclusive book signing.  You will also get to take amazing make 'n takes and I have to admit, I am beyond excited about what EVERY attendee is going to receive. We have secured a HUGE discounted rate for this weekend. We've also asked that it be a flat rate for our guests no matter if they get the single, double, triple or quad rooms.  This is fantastic as it makes it really affordable to get your good gals and crash in nice rooms and have fun all night. lol. I am totally speaking from experience as some of you  scrapbook rockstars have some crazy fun after hours scrapping in rooms and giggling. BUT the catch is this, you will need to click on the link IN the registration to get this deal. The link will take you to a private hotel website they created for Crop & Create to reserve your room. It will also tell you all about the hotel and have lot's of fun info. We have reserved a bunch of rooms till the end of August, then if any remain they will go back to the hotel to book them.

The Sheraton Cavalier features multiple restaurants including  Carver's, lounges and the proximity to the heart of downtown is seconds away.

Only a couple walking blocks to our largest mall. In the hotel is Starbucks brewed coffee and they can make a good selection of their trademark drinks" or if you are a Tim Horton's fan, apparently there has been one built in a building right behind. So coffee needs are taken care of. It also boasts a very large recreational area with multiple waterslides, pool, hot tubs and kiddy pool.

 This hotel does have a parking fee of $10/day. HOWEVER we negotiated that down to a $5 flat rate for the weekend.  There is underground parking too.

This is a really cool part, because when we felt them out before we decided to create these type of events, THEY WERE EXCITED.  They were coming aboard before we had got into the full swing of ideas. What an adventure this is going to be. I think the biggest series of cropping events to travel all across Canada. I am so beyond excited to have the first one in Saskatoon. I love the fact that when you take a Vicki class you are challenged, you complete lot's of projects and you are excited to go home and find pics to fill them. I absolutely LOVE every class I've taken from her.

 I first met Becky years ago in Edmonton. Her class was very detailed oriented, her measurements given top notch and the 2 projects were awesome. It was definitely out of my box since I am more the chick that uses my finger nails to mark where I want to cut. So for me, I learned a lot in this class, was pushed out of my comfort zone and HAVE NEVER LOOKED BACK. I still don't measure very well, BUT I also think I can't possibly live without Becky's 2 Page Maps Sketch books. They are like my staple I never leave home without. Since that first meeting I have had the fantastic luck to be able to be her TA for classes and then teach at same events as her. Big milestone for me. And now, every time I get to see her, I smile, because I know she is pure, true and really one of the neatest women I have ever met.

I LOVE this concept of simplicity, repetition and calm colours. I totally thought the little yellow butterfly ROCKED cause it stands out perfectly.

I have to say honestly I ADORE Kelly Goree. I met her about 7 years ago, and fell in love with her style, her personality, her southern hospitality and accent. I will be totally upfront too, I didn't realize she was following my blog after we met and she sent me an email and I almost peed my pants. I was so floored, I think I kept it for about 4 years as one of the coolest things I had happen in this industry. Then I had a cool honour again when she scrapbooked a photo of us for a publication in Scrapbook Trends mini album issue. That was pretty darn cool. THANKS KELLY! 

 Anyways.

Her style is timeless and stunning, her boys are just so cute and her photography skills are awesome! Definitely a girl to bookmark in your blog roll. You will not be disappointed.

Well as you can see I am simply tickled pink to have a lineup of this caliber coming to Saskatoon. It is AWESOME.

Crop & Create is a BRAND NEW event that is going to be taking place across Canada, providing exceptional teachers from U.S. & Canada. The lineup of manufacturers that have come aboard is really unbelievable.

I know that every time a teacher locked in they were coming, I was beyond thrilled. Can you believe the lineup??? Well Saskatchewan ADORES Vicki Boutin, and she is coming back again.  But now we have new teachers coming, and coming as far away as Kentucky. Wicked!!!!! I never thought I would see the day where you could get teachers like Vicki Boutin, Becky Fleck, Kelly Goree, Kimber McGray in Saskatoon at the same time!

Scrapbook & Cards Today,

Have you checked it out before? I love that it is a magazine that is FREE in stores and everyone in the world can view it online for NO COST. WOW. So when you check out the magazine, you will be really impressed for many reasons. The magazine is very clean looking, the designers are awesome and provide such great inspiring works of art and the best part is their goal is to really help the scrapbook industry thrive and grow. They are constantly working with Local Scrapbook Stores to help scrapbooking grow. How cool!

For me, I think it is a no brainer that sketches should be provided in every scrapbook magazine out there. There is no reason why you have to always reinvent the wheel. A good sketch is like that perfect family recipe you want to share and use over and over again. I personally LOVE Becky Fleck and have for years.I have been honoured to have become friends with her and find her work very inspiring as I am a sketch girl through and through.  Any sketch book out there I own and find them to be super inspiring to kick start your creations. Becky has created 2 of the BEST books in this industry that I think every scrapbooker would love her 2 books Page Maps 1 & 2.

You also can try her monthly sketches on her Page Maps site.  I would definitely venture over here to for a chance to win 2 different cash gift certificates and a chance to win signed copies of Page MAps 1 +2 or the limited edition of Card Maps.

 

hmm, so a few other new things on board for me. I am now a part of the Core'dinations Design team and I am pumped!!!!! I LOVED doing booth work for them at CHA, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE their partnerships with amazing companies and have really enjoyed teaching classes featuring Core'dinations product.

SO expect to see lots more fun stuff this year on my blog.

Also this week I am going to try and update my sidebars. They need an overhaul and I have so many new links to add for you. Should be fun!!!!!

Check back tomorrow for this new pledge I've taken too. I have no idea if I can do it, but I am going to try hard. Very hard. Some of you may laugh, some may feel inspired to join in, some may want to see some more eye candy. Who knows, but check back to read. I have lot's of new projects to show you. Tomorrow I am going to celebrate my mom, who is utmost wonderful!!!! And the projects I have to show on the blog I will be dedicating to my friends. They are my rocks, my shoulders to cry on, my partners in crime to get in funny situations or trouble with. And I did some really special things for them. I hope they like them.

Well, off to scrapbook in a quiet (although crazy messy) house. But I can't remember the last time I was alone with no place to run out to, or work to teach, or anything.

 

And for those of you who think my life is a sitcom, you will get a kick out of this. I had a funeral yesterday and was offered a job at it. Is that not crazy? First I pick my husband up at a funeral, now I'm being offered jobs at a funeral, and well after giggling with Sasha on the phone tonight, I realize that I am not the only one crazy things like that happen to! 

Love you all, thanks for following me on my new adventures and it was fun to see a few hundred of you guys at my scrapbook sale this weekend. I have been asked to do it again for Willowgrove's Community sale next weekend. So i am going to try for Friday. I have so much that I didn't put out this weekend, so I am going to try to work hard on making up a few hundred more $1-$2 kits of yumminess. SUHWEET!
