I LOVE Mondays. My dates with the kids are the best ever. It is only 45-60min long, but in that time we go wherever they want, get a special drink/treat and talk about life. They are so excited that it is just them and not the other kids that I find it is the most informative talk I ever get with them. They want to share all the latest news, what bothers them, just interesting!!! Each kid has their favourite places, so unique.
This week Ireland chose Booster Juice. Sometimes we are just plain old silly. Ireland told me they have been learning about how to express themselves - so we re-enacted some of the emotions (happy, sad, angry, silly, etc)
I knew once I printed these photos off, I was definitely going to use the latest Tim Holtz Sizzix die. Sizzix Bigz Die - Fresh Brewed
I think this i going to be one of my most used dies ever. I have already created a Starbucks layout that I had so much fun with as well. Here's a sneak...
It will be on the sizzix blog on March. 8th. Lot's of fun!
Anyways, let's create this layout. It is an easy one, little paper piecing and the title makes it look busy. First I cut out all the pieces for the booster juice cups.
Then here is the way I created them:
put a yellow band over top of the white cup
add the pink circle
put on the lid and straw behind the cup
to mimic the Booster Juice cups, I added pink stripes.
Next I did a little masking with a vintage Heidi Swapp mask. Love this mask. I look for reasons to use it. :)
place the mask down on the paper
I painted all around it
peel off the mask carefully while still wet
finished!
Here is what it looks like with the mask in the top right hand corner. Now when I put on the matted 8x8 photo (which is a collage of 9 photos) I put it a little closer to the right hand side to allow room on the bottom left for the booster juice cups.
Start layering the title. I used this new alphabet set Sizzix Bigz Alphabet Set 4 Dies - Fresh BlossomsAlphabet They are tall letters, so I knew that they would be a major part of this layout. That was okay with me. I think it still worked.
Also, I overlapped the photo, it helps ground the photo to the page more. By layering the title with yellow and pink, it helps "pop" the title.
Here are the little Booster Juice cups up close. I could have tried to make a logo for the centre of the cups, but I thought these epoxy shapes were much more fun.
Thanks for looking! I loved making this busy layout. Fun and bright. Don't forget to check out the Sizzix blog
Let's crack down and do a layout. It's quick, easy -why not?
You will need this die: Sizzix Originals Die - Phrase, Love #3. I used the love and cut out 2. I repeated the title because I really had nothing to say and there are five of us. Thought it was something different.
When cutting this die in the Big Shot all you need is a pair of Standard Cutting Pads. Make a sandwich with your die and paper between the cutting pads and roll them through your Sizzix Big Shot machine.
So to create this layout you need 1 12x12, and 2 larger pieces of scraps. One scrap to create a background "noise". Since my theme was love, I used a love pp.
Then I made the photo pop by mounting it on a Hambly pp that had shimmer. The teal goes so nicely with the sepia brown tones of the photo.
Alternate the love words in 2 parts of the layout.
I added a little doodling around the edges. So fun!
This weekend, I will be truthful. It was all about quantity, speed and accomplishment. I can definitely spend all day on a layout, I mean really? Who Can't? But I am on a mission to document the memories before we forget them!
So I broke out my silhouette, cut a few of the pre-made designs and just made them a little different for each kid.
So let's have a bit of show 'n tell this week.
This layout came together sooo fast. Like 15 inutes. Grab your scraps. The banners and lettering are all scraps glued to the backside of this layout. I added 2 brads and Baker's Twine, tied bows and added Thickers to complete the title. freehand journaling, faux stitching and it is done.
Here's another close up.
Check back tomorrow. I will show you how I take the same silhouette cut out and give it a little bit different look by changing the colours.
Hey everyone! I don't know about you, but my life is busy. I have started creating more pages that are still pretty and fun, instead of spending all day on one. Don't get me wrong, I love when I have a day where I create an actual work of art. I hand it on my wall, I walk by with pride. But it's not always realistic. 3 kids, a busy life,I sometimes just need to make sure the memories get in there books.
I started out cutting a few of these fabulous morrocan looking tiles. The die is actually called Trellis.
I cut another strip and then attached them together to look like a large sqauare.
Next I layered my large 5x5 instagram photo.
Now I layer a sticker and a smaller 3x3 instagram photo on top of that one.
I added fun little premade journaling stickers that actually talk about summer. They work great here!
Now let's do some fun things with those morrocan tiles up top. How about we mix and match the middles, raise some with 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. (Love these babies!)
Now finish off with a little bling and you are done a quick & easy page under 30 min!
Yes my kids still get excited for Santa. They are on that threshhold of knowing he isn't real, but not willing to actually believe that. So we do the yearly tradition of writing to Santa.
What better way to welcome holiday mail than a mailbox? I created 3 Christmas looking ones for the kids.
I decorated them all up with bling and glitter, paint and stickles. They were fun!
I am coming to teach at the end of this month!!!!! I will be at Brandon & Winnipeg.

You never know when challenges or giveaways will pop up over there!
Today I have created for you Gift Bags. These are a great way to brighten someone's day with a personal gift wrapping. Today I did 2 Thank you bags, but it would be a perfect concept for a birthday or Christmas, even a baby gift. I can't wait to see what each of you come up with.
Supplies needed:
gift bag
Core'dinations ColorCore Cardstock in the coours that suit your topic
border punches/ favourite punches
letter stickers
adhesive
twine
Core tools-sand it & dust buddy
additional items that will be awesome:
embellishments
patterned paper
ribbon
embossing folders
die cutting plates
Let's get started! Here is the first
Start out with a plain gift bag, I get mine from my local Dollar store.
Cover the gift bag with a base colour. I never ever go edge to edge with
the bottom layer. I like a bit of the gift bag still peaking through.
I did sand ONLY around the edge.
Make sure you use enough adhesive, the last thing you want is your gift bag to fall apart on the way to the recipient. :0
Next I started to create my layers. I started with a fairly light beige background. So it was natural for me to pull in a darker colour. For the darker layer, I sanded the entire thing. I wanted it now to "pop" a little more and by revealing the base it really stands out more. I also raised it with Scrapbook Adheive by 3L 3-D Foam Squares.
Break out those Spellbinders Dies! Here's a perfect time to cut out a funky shape! I picked red cause it seems to help the brown tones POP! For this element I DID NOT sand it. I like to really vary the layers with sand and no sand. I think they give a larger impact.
Again another fun die. For me it seemed so natural to add some tone of blue. I love the neutrals, but I love them more when they have some sort of "snap" to them to come alive!
Now for my main accent! I die cut a cute little Gingerbread man. (Tim Holtz die) I adore him and he makes me smile.
Add a title and somw twine and voila! Now it looks like a decorative piece!
Gift Bag #2:
I'm not going to show all the steps again, as some are a little repetitive of the first bag. Lot's of layering again. This time I used more border punches . Again I popped everything up with 3-D Foam Squares from Scrapbook adhesives by 3L. This time I added lettering stickers from Bo-Bunny.
I brolke out my EK Success punches and made some butterflies. I only put my Dodz Adhesive in the middles so they wings could be bent to look like they are flying.
Rule of 3, so I balanced another butterfly lower down on the left.
Then I punched out a whole bunch of little flowers and layered those and used them as little accents all around the gift bag. Same with the itty bitty hearts. What I haven't shown you is, I later decided to put rhinestones in the centers of my flowers. I didn't have any on me when I was scrapping at a friends house, but when I got home I decided they needed a little something something.
Thanks for joining me today on making gift bags. I challenge YOU now to make a fabulous gift bag for any occasion. And then PLEASE SHARE!!!!! We love to see what our loyal Core Addicts do. You guys just ROCK!!!!!

I showed you a gift bag yesterday that I did lot's of step outs for. If you would like to see them, go here. Quick & fun and use up those scraps!
This little layout came together sooooo fast.any sort of ledger paper sends me to heaven and back! So I had fun mixing and matching this limey yellow with hot pink. The Core'dinations cardstock worked sooooo perfect for this layout. I love the dimension this cardstock gives when sanded. bestill my heart.
This little girl also makes it easy to grab the bling and decorate with anything shiny! Lot's of times, I have no desire to have a specific"title" for my pages. So it is fun to just find inspiring quotes to put on. Makes me happy. This song I adore, so instead of using the most common line "These are a few of my favourite things." (funny even typing that I sang it outloud. happy times.) Anyhow, the song is fun for little girls and I like how Ireland always has her hair perfect, so the ribbons and hair bow prt has always reminded me of her.
Totally loved this quote today:
Pretty darn cute! makes you wonder...
Pinterest, my love, what did I spy today to share?
Snowflake ideas; they can never come too early. Gives me time to practice up before Winter gets here. Great activity for the kids.
but then I found this concept. LOVE. It is brilliant.
I recently was asked to be a part of a cool gig this past week. It was to create signage for the chain store JoAnn's that would be in every store. That is AWESOME!
I was given a few guidelines:
Everything had to be Core'dinations, NO patterned paper, simple, minimal embellishments, no sanding, no distressing,no inking, nothing "extra".
Was it possible? The last few years I wasn't really true to my style, I conformed to meet the needs of the assignments or product given. Because not one, NONE, zilch of my fave, fave fave layouts were ever published I realized that I had to change my style to be liked by others if I wanted to be published. So now lately I've been trying to re-evaluate what is my style???? Do I know it at all? Or do I need to figure out what kind of style I want.I had only submitted 1 project for publication since March, and I had even forgotten about it till today. I guess Spellbinder's had mentioned to my Editor today how much they liked my card. So I simply will wait on pins & needles to see it in print. It felt great to have that little skip in my stomach again. Reminded me of about 7 years ago when I was a part of a Baby Book.
The timing of this assignment was actually soooo appropriate because I have been changing my life for the better. Improve improve improve. To create something with the very basic of tools took me back to the beginning of my scrapbooking. Where there wasn't an abundance of product, embellishments, paper, etc. So I was excited to accept the challenge, but then immediately nervous to see if I actually could create something I'd be happy with.
As it turned out, I enjoyed myself immensely. It was Freeing. I created a handful of samples and THREE were picked up!!!!!! I was elated. I was hoping for one. So once I see the signage I will share with you.
Here were my entries:
I actually think I will toss a challenge out there. DO you think you can figure out which 3 were picked up? I will send out some Fabulous Adhesive prizes. Maybe even Core, if I can find a full pack that I haven't touched!(my fave thing about this assignment was I could use photos I love, they didn't have to be new & unseen. SUHWEET! )

simple. a refreshing change. although I had fun, I still love how you can spice up a layout with pp. HOWEVER, Core'dinations cardstock was a fun challenge to use without distressing. lol
