Spirit Days! Anyone else participate in them?

I usually go all out crazy for them. I love being silly to make kids laugh and feel good. It teaches them to be brave, to put themselves out there. To teach how to laugh at themselves.

This day was wacky hair day. I had an important meeting after school, so I couldn't go too crazy. So instead I did something I would never do. 

Another day was Double D Green day- school was honouring Duane's induction into the hall of fame. Of course we wore green because Duane ended his career with the Roughriders. I wore my jersey and a wig.

But I will be super honest. It is hard. Hard to always put myself out there and be silly. This green day, there was only 1 other staff member that participated. And about 12 kids.  So I went home thinking why on earth do I keep doing this? I was frustrated, annoyed. But at the end of the day... my class kids LOVED it. They call me silly, the bond is forming, I am getting love and the behaviours are happening less and less. 

So next spirit day, will I be in? you will have to wait and see....

Life is a roller coaster adventure I am riding. :)

However, mental note- thin out my hair ASAP!!!! holy helmet head. This is so my life though. My favourite curling iron breaks the week of family pics. I buy a new one, my hair ends up being huge. Oh well. it could be worse...

Crop & Create, Steak Night and an Awards Banquet

Came and left, but boy it was a blast.

It couldn't possibly be the most busiest weekend for me- 3 days of scrapbooking, sports award ceremony, steak night. All with the best people in my life!

Always the most fun getting together with this dear friend. Love you Miss Vicki!

This is a ongoing lesson Vicki tries to teach me. It is years in the making. "Leica, look for the butterfly". We recreate it often because of one little comment Jim made years ago... Looks more like you are looking at a moth. Silly boy.

Of course, it wouldn't be a crazy time unless Jim came for a Vicki session. BTW- What is with my red lipstick????? I think it is took wild!

Then of course, just getting much needed friend time in. I ADORE my scrapbook gang more than anything. We are such an eclectic, dirty, funny group of girls. It is soul food when we hang.

Then Jim & I had attended Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame. A fabulous friend Duane Dmytryshyn was being inducted into the Hall of Fame. You may or may not know, I have been lucky to work with a retired CFL football player.

Snow is coming.

This photo is from October. You remember, when we got snow a month sooner than normal. I would love to skip snow till Christmas. The plus temperatures have been really outstanding.

Tags, tags, tags!

Want to see one of my Halloween tags stepped out? Here is a picture story. I have come to realize, I take more pictures than I have time to journal. So follow my journey to creating this tag.

 

First emboss a white paper. I cut the top randomly. I knew once I used black ink to glide over the raised part I was going to cut out the fence part. I inked it orange and yellow, to kind of resemble those Halloween candies.

When you use black ink, you have to be as light as possible. Otherwise it gets everywhere.

Next, ink around the edge with the tag colours. I also adhered cotton on it to give a smoky look.

 

I used the twisted edge die to make it look like vines were climbing out of the tag.

 

Then I layered it back at the top of the tag.

 

I wanted a slight title. I ripped vellum and put tiny letters on it.

 

I adhered it across the front. Voila!

Day of the Dead

It was the end of the day, sun is shining so brilliantly warm-----> PLUS 15 DEGREES in the middle of NOVEMBER. Can we get a HELLO? This never ever ever happens in Saskatchewan. So I took this pic, and I am not going to crop the photo, or wait for better lighting. I want to remember this blissful day I spent creating in the warm sun.

So let's step out how I create this fabulous Day of the Dead mini album. I used this die

Sizzix Bigz XL Die - Day of the Dead Sugar Skull Book. 

 I am not going to talk through every step as it is very repetitive. You will be able to see the backside then the front for most of the steps. It is an adventure in photos. My reality of how I actually adhere things, the way I step it out. Enjoy!

See how step by step you can add one piece and create an album? I didn't even need to say a word. I really think embellishments step it up! Have fun creating!
