The last 8 months I have only scrapbooked like 2-3 layouts. Every project I have made is something altered. Not sure why. Weird hey? But I have never scrapbooked so little. Going back to University full time really cuts into the craft time. :)
The urge to create has been crazy this week. I have made about 2 dozen projects and love it! missed it! I have never been behind on the kids photos, until this year. Now I have about 16months to catch up on. Ei yi yi. But it will be fun reliving the memories.
The kids have actually noticed that I am not caught up on layouts either, which is hilarious. They each have their set of albums, in chronological order- now to clarify, I don't scrapbook chronologically, but I do file them in their albums that way. I think it will make more sense for them to be able to kind of live through the years.
So Ireland has said where's the picture of medoing this...?
yep, that's on my now year long to do list. So how am I going to tackle all these photos I am now really behind on?
Tip #1: Relax
Rome wasn't built in a day.
Tip #2: Prioritize
Figure out which mean the most to you and which ones do you want to start with?
Tip #3: Organize
I find the easiest way to do this is with the xlarge ziplock bags. I purchase these at Dollarama.
In these bags I put:
- photos I want to scrap
- any journaling notes I have made about these photos
- patterned papers that "match" the photos-or ones I want to use
- cardstock that goes with the layout
- embellishments I will use
- any sketches that might work
These bags you may pack all at once, or you may do over time. Don't panic. I look at them like my 15 minutes of decluttering. lol what can I do in 15 minutes. Don't spend longer on each layout. Reason being, you are NOT sitting down to do the layout. You want to make them handy and efficient for when you do have time.
Remember, we scrapbook to document our lives and those important to us. If you are doing that, chances are you are a creative person. So don't forget to enjoy the process! If it becomes a hardship, difficult-you are less likely to continue.
Good idea about the Ziploc bags. I keep my patterned paper that way.
