8 1/2 x11.
Is this kosher to you? Is this YOUR size? For me it's NOT! In fact, I hide from this size? and why? It's not really that different than the other sizes. And it is truly funny for me because I LOVE mini albums, create them in all shapes & sizes. I LOVE theme albums in 8x8 or 9x9, so what is the difference. For me I think it is the "rectangle" shape. My comfort is the square. So guess what, let's break out of our comfort stage!
Years ago, I met this really awesome photographer & scrapbooker named Melissa Chapman. (from Regina) We had a couple occasions to scrap together, teach together and I wish I saw more of her but we have kept in touch throughout the years. Anyways, she predominantly scraps this size. And her work is really fantastic! (It does help that every picture is perfect!) But anyways, she challenged me to complete an entire 8 1/2 x 11 album that year. Well, I was given this size of album, so I had no excuses. but did I do it? No. sorry Melissa! Than in the last year I have gotten to know the phenomenal staff at Treasured Memories in Edmonton and they mostly scrap this size! CRAZY! Have you walked into a store before that showed mostly this size? I haven't! Well, they've bugged me a few times to do this size. I thought about it, but didn't move. THEN I was asked to be apart of a gift album for Chantel (the owner) Well this was an honour, and how could I say no. Absolutely NOT! For all they have done for me, it was no question. She rocked and I was in. So anyone guess how long it took me to create 1 page? With only 1 photograph? I sat for 3 hours stumped, not getting anywhere. So where do I go?I pulled a Pam, and just started cutting. And next thing you know, I finished the layout, I had started cutting more papers and I started having so much fun that I didn't go to bed till like 3:30am. and I completed a huge amount of layouts!
So today I am just going to show some of mine, but tomorrow I am going to give tips on how to convert a 12x12 sketch to suit this size! and show off your guys work! cool. see you then!
Let's have fun!!!!
So perks of this size:
- use way more scraps up!
- don't need as many embellishments
Hey Leica!
I am one of the last satnding 12 x 12 'ers at Treasured memories. 2008 is the first full year i am committing to 8.5 x 11. So all years before(all 22 of them) that i obviously have not finished working on are still 12 x12. The thing that is so great about 8.5 x 11 is you lose the symmetry with this size (which i love so much more) but could be challenging as your pages are ushually well balanced with a little something everywhere. Anyways your doing awesome! Take care!

Another advantage - More focal point on the picture, and you get more pages done :P
