what a week!

well the anticipation of last week was worth it! Our family had a blast! We had the best of times (and the worst of times as my kids behaved sooooo badly sometimes)

So we went up last week to spend the week with the coolest ladies ever and their families and their parents. Jackie Ludlage & Katharina Doyle. It's not often that you really click with your "bosses" and feel that you can trust them 100% to bring your families around and have fun. It was neat to get to know them more on a personal level and laugh and have fun. We had 4 different families camping in 2 side by side sites. 1 huge trailer (Jackie's parents, Donna & Gary) Jackie & Christoph's trailer (family of 6 plus her sister's 3 kids), Katharina's tent (3 people) and our tent (5 of us!)! crazy! but we decided that this way we could still hear the kids while they slept and we sat by the fire. So we had lot's of water fun, tubing, boating, bbq'ing, we had a great time in the parade walking by our "float" (the kids loved throwing the candy!!!!) we spent a night at their farm and played bocci ball, sat by the fire, water fight's the works! we loved it!!!!! then we went to christoph's car races at the Edmonton speedway. Jim is still talking about it.  We did a little scrapbooking talk, I saw the preview for the next volume of CSB!!!!! totally wicked! cannot wait!
Life is great! So here is the week in pictures!

  • Jager so proud to take pics on Christoph's car.

June 26, 2009

about time hey???

well everyone, thanks for waiting patiently. Life as we knew changed this week. We had a sick little baby that we still don't know what the heck happened. these 3 things were the discussion: stomach flu, sunstroke and then now her getting 2 new teeth this weekend also might have been the factor. we don't know anymore today. all I know is the hospital sucked! The nurses & doctors were uber awesome, but watching her have to go through that broke my heart. She hated every part of it, and screamed so hard every minute. Then we had to endure it another day. 2 days of IV. awful awful awful. she still isn't drinking milk, cause it is instant puke, but she is on the mend. Thanks for all the wonderful well wishes.

Truthfully, you'd think since I spent more hours up than I normally do I would be scrapped out. I didn't scrap one thing. I was so worried, and pretty much just farming outside her bedroom door. yes you heard me, my new obsession, thanks friends...for hooking me.another story for another day.

So this is our baby in the hospital... (my heart cries when I look at these)
IMGP0357
IMGP0359
here she is the next day, (they let us take her home) but of course IV still in, we had to go back for more.
IMG_8051
this is why I haven't been on the computer or answering emails. huge apologies. but she just was my only concern. so we cut up all the entries and the kids picked one winner. we didn't put any names on, just answers so we had to look up the winner afterwards. I am positive I put everyone who sent me comments through email in the draw.If I missed you please please email me and I will make it up to you somehow. I am seriously wiped out and have been a little overly tired. but congrats to Marah, sorry it is late. here was the winning comment.
Photo 105
great idea. I'm not sure if we would be able to demo this to a huge room of people but I will think on it the logistics! maybe if I brought my sewing machine for people to try with examples & instructions on posters? then people could try at their own leisure and use throughout the crop???tell me if you like that idea? Anyways...This is where we definitely need Jessi Lute! I know on the Just Cre8 forum she showed us tricks so try going there Marah. But please email me your decision on which prize. email to :
scrap-mommy@hotmail.com  please put in the subject "blog winner June" as a week without answering emails I am SWAMPED!!! just when I had finally caught up. Oh well.

So let's move on to happier things. Here is some photos of our week before Ireland got sick. (Oh and we aren't going to celebrate her birthday for 2 weeks, we thought it could wait till she was better, so I will let everyone know the new date!thx)

So Saturday was such a fabulous day! reunited with old friends, fabulous blogging friends, met wonderful new friends, and of course we missed those who couldn't come. Sassy & Jen. Sassy big hugs girl, I know life is wobbly right now, but know we think of you!!!! Jen hope you are feeling better, however now that your magazine has arrived you probably will be forever in hiding. Edward did make a little appearance.LOL!
This gorgeous creature below is Sasha (aka Saucy Dragonfly or Saucy Sprinkle's- the fabulous link on my list) she gave us a tutorial of making cupcakes from scratch. Of course like Jim said, "why go, you always make cupcakes?" but he just doesn't understand. you go to relive those fabulous home-ec days, you go to learn secrets from the master herself, you go for the pure enjoyment of laughter. I'm all about the smiles and catching up with friends. so we made to die for cupcakes. In fact they were so gorgeous that I became a cupcake fairy all the way home, stopping at whatever friends were home and offering them a snack right then, huge hit, and I saved a few for us of course. My best friend Natalie's husband couldn't get over the "camoflauge" military ones. they were fabulous. she inspired me so, that we mad another batch today, the boys love that I learned to make "new" cupcakes. they said this icing is "waaaaayyyyy better" funny thing is I always made them the same however Saucy had one little capful of magic she taught us to put in. and o f course being the eager beaver student stopped at Michael's on the way home and picked up that little butter flavouring. oh so good!
IMG_8043
It was neat with this cool mirror to watch her.

now to be bad parents, baby girl got tired of the ride home, and we still had 40 min. to go. sharing Riley's slurpie was a hit! yes we are sooo bad. but she soooo loved it. live once in awhile. that's my motto.
IMG_7949
then a few days at our local splash park...recognize anything Jenn?
IMG_7972

well I am super tired, going to bed now. think we might go to the lake this weekend, so I will see you later.have a great day!

June 22, 2009

till tomorrow...hopefully

sorry for not announcing the winner today. I truthfully just got home, haven't even used the random generator yet. quick summary of why not.

sat. ireland got sick, over the next 3 days she has had the pukes, other end disasters, and we ended up logging 2 days in the hospital with her hooked to IV's cause she was seriously dehydrated, had another dose of IV today and then they released her, took the IV out. then had to detail vehicles today to get the puke out, one left to do tomorrow. we are exhausted, she is still not her best. and we are tired as we've been up all hours of the night spending it with her. so if I don't do the draw tomorrow, please forgive me as it is the last day of school, a full day field trip and hopefully we are not back in the hospital. I guarantee we will draw the winner this week. sorry.

and the worst part is tomorrow is her first birthday! I hope she gets better. we will celebrate it next week okay friends? thanks

It's friday!-last question...

What do you think the ultimate MAIN prize to give away at a crop would be? Last year we had a Digital Rebel camera kit with lens. (retail value: $900)

ok, no time to talk today, a million things to get done before a busy weekend. I still have a crazy amount of new photos to be shown, fun things to share so I will see you next week and I will tell you the winner of the contest. We will use the random generator on Monday so you have til then to enter. good luck!

June 18, 2009

Thursday brings another question...

What theme do you think we should have? or no theme? We would love suggestions on how to decorate.

Well it has become clear some of people's favourite's, and we totally appreciate the ideas. We are constantly looking for ideas on how to make the crop successful each time. So we've decided that one of the main prizes for sure is going to be a huge collection of glimmer mist! Another one is going to be a Tim Holtz prize package. And we will keep working on a whole bunch more over the next 6 months!  The make n take's we had such a fabulous response of suggestions that we are thinking of having them run all day Saturday and bringing in some "experts" in certain areas to do demos all provided for you guys for FREE. The make n takes we are thinking of so far are: doodling, creating homemade flowers-2 different ways, alcohol inks, stamping. And who knows we have a crew of hugely talented people attending that someone may have a cool technique to show that I could hire as well. (any offers??)

So here's some more layouts:

Contest!!!! & lot's of photos & scrapbook layouts!!!

Well the registration went off successfully, we have a few spots left. I am 300 people away from hitting 100 000 visitors on my blog so let's

CELEBRATE!!!!! how do we do that??? we have a ...
     Contest!!!!!

Now is the time that we start gathering sponsor prizes and goody bag stuff for the crop and of course we are always looking for ideas of what people like, so we thought why not have a contest to get suggestions from people and give away something big. So every day till Friday we will have a new question, and you can answer everyday till Friday to get more than one entry. The prize will be FREE entrance to the Saskatchewan crop for you & a friend. (If you already registered you can still enter, and you will be refunded your fee) Now if you live far away and wouldn't be coming, then we will send you a retail basket equivalent to value of the crop prize!!!approx. $250. Everyone is eligible for this! So we will give you all the questions today so you can think on them but only answer the question of the day on the right day to be eligible for multiple entries.

So today's question is this:
In the comment area leave your top 10 items that you think would be the best scrapbook prize ever to receive or your favourite scrapbook companies.
*** Cheryl you are right, I did think it was Monday! LOL!, see I lose my mind all the time, so I will combine 2 questions.

Wednesday's question: What techniques would you like to see shown at a make n take table?

Thursday: What theme do you think we should have? or no theme? We would love suggestions on how to decorate!!!something fun!!!!!

Friday: What do you think the ultimate MAIN prize to give away at a crop would be? Last year we had a Digital Rebel camera kit with lens. (retail value: $900)

I will teach a Glimmer Mist Trinket box class- $30  (sorry no photo yet, I'm going to CHA summer and I am going to design with only the latest greatest newest colours that Tattered Angels comes out with!!!!)Come and play with the amazing colours of glimmer mist & fun screens out there. We will decorate a box, create our own flower colours and more fun stuff. Lot's of techniques. you will leave with a few fun projects.

We have a huge goal that we have been working towards with the support of so many. We want EVERY child in the hospital at Christmas to receive a ready made scrapbook album. We are going to give them albums that are made with so much love & kindness. All they have to do is add their own photos & journaling. We are also going to throw in stickers and fun stuff as well. If you would love to help in this adventure, we are looking for 8x8 or 6x6 pages. They can be very generic or themed if you like. Any amount is welcome.

Now down to the goodness...

will there be prizes??? of course!!!!! And this year since we are raising money for the children albums, we thought why not have  a mini album theme??? Sounds like fun hey? So here's how it goes,

Mini Album Contest- share with us your favourite mini album, we will put them on display for people to peruse.

Layout contest- bring a colour photocopy of your favourite layout to share.

Card Contest- we thought that we would make children's get well cards this time. They will be given to the recipients of our album, and any extras will be given to the hospital to give the children as they see fit. (THESE CARDS WILL NOT BE RETURNED)

And once again we will have fun fun fun prizes to purchase raffle tickets for. We've been gathering some fun amazing things. But of course we would love to hear what you want to see! We aim to please. As well, we haven't decided on the theme for a table decoration this year. We are looking for ideas, if you have any share!

So registration begins on June 15th. I will have links from this site as well as the saskatchewan scraps site.

Nothing will be available till that date, sorry!
